Boston.com Subway Poster

We commissioned this poster to promote Boston.com, right after we launched in the fall of 1995. Actually our PR firm pitched us on the idea, which was to get a variety of local artists to interpret the usefulness of the Internet in a mosaic form. A grassroots marketing idea. We spent around $150k on the project, on the artists and to display the posters in Boston’s underground “T” subway stations.

The poster was a total failure as advertising (too detailed, no focal point to catch a busy commuters’ eye). But it was not a failure as art!
